This is the first Poem I've ever put out into the world and I've turned it into a print with a limited number of copies (50) to share with people.
It's an A4 print on Hahnemühle German Etching paper. The font used is Lato.
I initially wrote the Poem on whatsapp to send to my friend, brother, co-founder - GB before he ran the London Marathon this year. The poem resonated with him and his family so I decided to turn it into a print.
I wanted to capture another way of looking at running, focusing on the process, the art of Running, not just the outcome of the time or the place. In fact, I wanted to capture a view that it's all about the process, not the outcome at all. I also wanted to include all the different reasons for running, not running away from something - running to something and that it's not a solo act either, even if we may think it is - there are all these other people involved in the background who enable us to even run, to give us life, legs, heart and spirit.
The only time I studied poetry was in GCSE English when we passed around the anthology and all read poems out loud in class, embarrassed and confused. When I began journaling a few years ago, the poetry just started pouring out as a way of expressing how I feel. Sometimes I find a poem evokes more emotion than a typical sentence does, there is something musical about it and there's a rhythm too which adds an extra layer of depth and emotion. Plus, just like with drawing Art, who says I can't call myself a Poet now? I never thought I'd be brave enough to write something like this and share it, turns out I am and I'm really happy about that.
I sign each one on the back and write a unique message with each one too.
